As the area with the most concentrated indoor water use, the kitchen and bathroom is a "heavy disaster area" for leakage problems. To do a good job in the waterproofing of the kitchen and bathroom, we need to follow the principle of "selection of materials, careful construction, and strict acceptance". 

1. Waterproof materials: environmental protection adaptation is the core

The space of the kitchen and bathroom is small, the pipes are dense and long-term damp. Waterproof materials need to have both waterproof performance, environmental protection performance and construction adaptability.

(1) Indoor floor: 1.5 thick single-component polyurethane waterproof coating + 5.0 thick polymer cement waterproof mortar

Use cement mortar to level the ground so as to avoid leakage caused by uneven thickness of waterproof paint or piercing waterproof coils;

Single-component polyurethane waterproof coating has a large elongation rate, high water resistance and green environmental protection. It can absorb water vapor in the air and react to cure, forming a non-toxic, tasteless and highly elastic waterproof film on the grass-roots surface;

(2) Indoor wall: 1.5 thick JS polymer cement waterproof coating (type II) or 5.0 thick polymer cement waterproof mortar

JS polymer cement-based waterproof coating is both rigid and flexible, with strong adhesion. It can be used for construction on wet substrates, and can be well bonded with finishing materials such as tiles or painted layers, which is not easy to fall off.

2. Construction key: details determine the waterproof life

Most of the leakage in the kitchen and bathroom is concentrated in the node parts such as the root of the pipe and the yin and yang angle. The construction needs to take into account the overall protection and detailed strengthening.

(1) Grass-roots treatment

It is necessary to meet the standard of "flat, dry, clean and solid", check the flatness, and repair cracks with polymer mortar.

(2) Wall treatment

The waterproof height of the wall of the bathroom shower area is not less than 1.8m, and the other areas are not less than 30cm; the root of the pipe and the floor leak need to be reinforced separately with a brush; the kitchen floor must be completely waterproofed.

(3) Drainage design

The slope is facing the ground leak, the slope is not less than 1%, and the slope of 500mm around the leak is increased to 5% to ensure that there is no residual water.

(4) Protection of finished products

It is strictly forbidden to go up within 24 hours after the construction of the waterproof layer, and the subsequent construction personnel need to wear soft-soled shoes; after passing the inspection, the next process construction can be carried out.

3. Acceptance and maintenance

The acceptance of waterproofing projects needs to follow the specifications.

(1) Functional test

After the waterproof construction and before the finishing is laid, a water storage or watering test must be done in the roof, bathroom and other areas: the ground water storage height is ≥20mm, lasting 24 hours, and check that there are no wet stains in the corresponding area downstairs and the root of the pipe; the watering time on the wall is not less than 30min, and it is qualified to observe that there are no wet stains on the back water surface.

(2) Daily maintenance to extend the service life

Regularly check the gaps of the ceramic tiles, and replace the aging seam agent in time to avoid stagnant water seeping into the waterproof layer; avoid breaking through the waterproof layer when repairing the pipe. After repair, it is necessary to make up for the waterproofing and do a closed water test to keep the floor leak open to prevent long-term water from soaking the waterproof layer from causing failure.
